Top Tips for Practising Music at Home

It's not always easy to be motivated to practise, especially during a busy week. The best thing you can do is assign small, 20 or so minute slots and see what you can do it that time. If possible, short and often is better than one big session during the week.


During the pandemic I've found a lot more time to practise and it's going to be very different when things are getting back to normal. It's going to be more difficult to find the time but it's really important to me to make it a priority.


Main points

  • Aim for short, 10 min or so sessions - you can always carry on if you want!

  • Decide what you want to improve on so your session is focused.

  • Find a time to practise that you can do every week for consistency.

  • Practice won't always feel like you're improving straight away - it's a process and once you get used to it, it can be really enjoyable. Learn to love the process!
