My lessons are always tailored to you, and whether you would like to just play for fun, or take exams, we will work together to achieve your goals. I value teaching because I really enjoy working with others and seeing people's progress journeys; these learning experiences inspire my own practice too.

I came to work under Rose in autumn 2018. I wanted to pick up my cello again after not having a real cello voice since I left for university 30 years ago. Rose enabled me to find that voice to which I am very grateful. Rose is a really attentive teacher who works patiently with me often giving me a couple of key points to take away with me from each lesson. She is very flexible in her lesson timings and has coached me to the place I want to get to. If you want to find or rediscover your cello voice, then please hire her as your teacher.

Rose has brought me from a total beginner to near grade 3 level in a very short time, without my ever feeling stressed or pushed. About
Rose Gallaway graduated with a 2:1 Music Degree from the University of Leeds in 2015 and worked in Leeds until 2022, working in education and music. She is now based in Stockport, Manchester after living in Glasgow for three years, studying Msc Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
Rose has been teaching privately and in schools across Leeds and Wakefield since 2016, including for Opera North's In Harmony project, ArtForms and Wakefield Music Services. She believes that patience, compassion and awareness all contribute to the importance of playing music. She feels that her understanding and positive attitude inspires others and allows their own personalities to shine through in their music making.
Rose has been working as Music Therapist since graduating in 2024 in schools with pupils with various needs, including complex needs and additional support needs. Rose enjoys supporting her teaching with the skills she gained as a music therapist, including free improvisation and working in an even more person-led way to support the specific needs of the people she is working with.
Rose regularly performs both as a soloist and an ensemble musician at weddings, music courses, formal events, in chamber groups and in pit orchestras. Rose performed at the opening of the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre in Huddersfield in 2018 and her regular work as a session musician has resulted in her playing being on various projects, including an advertisement for American make-up brand Covergirl.
Rose's versatility as a performer has allowed her to perform in a variety of venues including Brudenell Social Club, Belgrave Music Hall and Leeds Town Hall. In November 2019 she toured several venues in Poland with electronic artist KARI. Rose has performed in many countries, including France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Malta and Austria.
